HANK THOMPSON SUNSET TOUR

After 58 years on the road, Hank Thompson will ride off into the sunset the end of 2004

Date: Saturday, September 11, 2004
Place: Fayetteville Courthouse Square
Time: Activities beginning at 9 am.

Hank, who is one of the last living legends still performing and who has blazed the trail for the artists of today will be traveling the county with his famed “Brazos Valley Boys” who were voted #1 Country Western Bank for 13 consecutive years during the 50’s and 60’s.

Hank was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989, the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 1997, The Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and most recently into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2002. These are just a few of the many, many awards bestowed upon him during his brilliant career.
Hank is stopping by Fayetteville, Texas (population 261) for a special evening on Saturday, September 11, 2004, starting at 8:00 pm benefiting the restoration of the town’s historic 1934 court house Seth Thomas four-faced clock.

Gil Baca and his band will be performing their own special blend of music during the evening as well as backing Hank on his portion of the show. Gil was one of Hank’s original band members and it is quite an honor for the two of them to be working together again.

There is no admission charge for this benefit; however a donation offering will be collected. Beverages will be available for sale – no coolers please!



Other special events will be held in Fayetteville throughout the day benefiting this restoration project.

  • Market Days on the Square - 9am-5pm
  • Lions Club Spaghetti Supper - 5-7pm
  • Cruise Night featuring many antique cars - 6pm-???

    Bring your family and your lawn chairs for this wonder all day event!!
