PITTED DATES

by Jay Walker

180 Years of Texas Architectural History
Written in Stone

A company's birth year was once proudly proclaimed at the highest point of their building. Age inspired trust and was assurance of good business practices. Like many traditions that spontaneously arise, there were no guidelines or codes. Chiseled, engraved, embossed, carved, painted, etched, molded, sculpted or attached, the variations on this theme are many. Here is a chronilogical tour of Texas.
