Hi, I am intrigued by the name Richey. My great grandmother was Evie Ritchie, and she was married to J D Allison. They lived in Texas, I think near Paris, and possibly in a town called Sumner. My grandmother Gertie Allison was born in the late 1800's. She had a sister named Nora. Gertie Allison married Oner Parsons, and they lived in Texas before moving to Hugo, Oklahoma. I am having a hard time finding records of my Texas ancestors, but I am hoping you might shed some light on Evie Ritchie. She was married several times, so her last names were also Ward and Gimple, in addition to Allison. Thanks, Dianne V

Dear Dianne, Sumner is northwest of Paris, Texas. You might try the Lamar County Genealogical Society at http://gen.1starnet.com/ and the Texas State Library genealogy collection at http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/genfirst.html . My Richeys came from Steubenville, Ohio, right after the Civil War. The name means "Little Richard" and comes from Scotland: Glenshee, Perth County, in our case. - Texpert

Dear Howie, Thanks for the leads on following my Ritchie family. For a while I thought they might be in the witness protection program, but as with most things genealogical, one lead leads to others. I appreciate your help. Dianne V
