Where
is the begining of the Rio Frio? My Mother says
it begins on what was once the Prade Ranch. I say it is
north of the Ranch. Thanks, Chuck Spence
Dear Chuckles, You and Mom are both correct--half way!
In truth, the West Frio River begins a few miles northeast
of Prade Ranch, which sits astride the Frio's Short Prong.
The other half of the river, the East Frio, begins in
the extreme southwest corner of Kerr County and flows
alongside US 83. The two forks converge just outside of
Leakey (pronounced LAY-kee) and stream due south from
there. After Garner State Park and Concan, most of the
Frio goes underground to recharge the Edwards Aquifer.
What water is left feeds the Nueces at Three Rivers. Who
can name the other river that becomes the Nueces? -Texpert

Texpert: DO YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THE OLD EVERGREEN
INN IN LEE COUNTY? THE OUTLAW BILL LONGLEY WAS SUPPOSEDLY
HUNG AT THIS SITE. KEN MOSTYN
Dear Mr. Mostyn, The notorious Bill Longley lived
near Evergreen with his family from 1853 to 1868 when
he began his murdering career. He was hanged in Giddings
in 1878. I found no info about the inn, but the tree after
which the old town was named bears a historical marker.
