Atop A Tree

Atop a tree
A heron sits,
A statue
In disguise

So silently
It waits its time,
Blends into
Woods and sky

The heron
Is unblinking,
Stillness is
Its lone reply

It will not flinch
Until I’m sensed,
Then away from me
It flies.
