Running Track

by David Knape

What I've Learned In Life
is that it is a grueling race

which starts from the minute
you get up to the minute you
lay down to sleep

all day it's a fight
to overcome
each little hurdle

yet what a feeling it is
what a sense of
accomplishment follows
as you leap each obstacle
and ready for the next

the race is very demanding
it is a circular track
yet after each stretch
you get more comfortable
each lap builds confidence

the track of life is a marathon
at times it leaves you winded

but the running of it
lets you learn from
the experience

and with it comes
the joy
of landing
on your feet.
