    Texas Towns

    by David Knape

Texas towns have names that sing
All of them have that special ring
    Named after rare, uncommon things
Go figure what they really mean

    Names that most consider quaint
Some of them good, some of them ain’t
But all in all, there’s no complaints
These Texas towns are meant to paint

All Texas towns for goodness sake
    Have barbeque and prime-rib steak,
    Football games, pom-poms & cleats
Patriotic parades down on Main street

    Dairy Queens and rodeos
    4H auctions, movie shows,
Court houses on the old town square
    And friendliness is everywhere

Texas Towns pique our interest so
We see their names, and want to go
These places where the pace is slow
    Where politeness still is appropo

Texas towns are hard to beat
They are what makes Texas complete
All Texans know their state’s elite
It’s hometowns keep it so unique.
