The Mute

by David Knape

A humble man
who's mute and meek
holds words within
he cannot speak,
yet the deep pain
he holds inside
he's learned to know
and well abide

From dawn to dusk
he always goes
his determination
only shows,
with hard work
a man declares
the simple thoughts
he cannot share

Those defined
by skills they lack
can achieve much more
than we expect,
and that no matter
how you're made
you can still make
sweet lemonade

While others work
for only greed
those with less talents
still succeed,
All life is given
not to waste
but to make the world
a better place.
