History in
a Pecan Shell
James, Joseph,
and William Eubank settled here in 1853 and arranged their homes in
a semicircle in the still hostile region. Hence the name.
The nearness to the river allowed the development of a grist mill
and the town prospered. There was a post office from the year 1857
through 1911.
The Kansas, Texas and Missouri Railroad (KATY) arrived in the 1880s
which would’ve guaranteed prosperity for most towns, but its proximity
to Georgetown, Taylor
and Granger dampened
growth. |
