Located in the southeastern region of Denton
County, the town of Hickory Creek hugs the coastline of Lewisville
Lake. It is bordered by Corinth and Lake Dallas eight miles southeast
of Denton. Covering an area of 4.6 square miles near Interstate 35,
it enjoys a population of 3,247.
Hickory Creek developed during the early 1960s. Incorporated in 1963
with a population of 219. The town's name came from a nearby creek.
The number of residents remained relatively same throughout the 1970s
but increased in 1980 to 1,422. At the turn of the century, it reached
2,078 and rose to 3,247 in 2010. Hickory Creek is currently run by
a city council and mayor. In addition to having its own police department,
the town operates four parks through an agreement with the U. S. Army
Corp of Engineers. |
