History
in a Pecan Shell
Established about 1890, Henry Ator and G. A. Hunt established the
first businesses. Hunt became the town’s first postmaster. The population
was a respectable 68 in 1900, but by 1910 it had declined to only
33. In 1940 Patilo had 54 people with a school and two businesses.
Today Patillo consists of the picturesque store above, a church, a
volunteer fire department substation and an open-air meeting hall.
