History on a Pinhead

Josiah LeGrand Sears came to the site in 1854 from Virginia and opened a general store here. Whatever history Searsville had was kept among the residents. No one seems to have bothered to record the population at any point during Searsville's founding and decline. A post office was opened in 1859 but did not survive the Civil War.

Photographer's note:
"The church is the only structure in the area, but it delightfully retains it original name from way back in 1862 when it was founded." - John J. Germann
