History in a Pecan Shell

Currently there is no history for Suez, Texas but its inclusion was suggested by Shane Hall of nearby De Leon, who wrote:

"My dad lives on the former site of the Suez blacksmith shop and gin. I've found many artifacts left from them over the years. When my dad bought the property (about 1 acre), he said there was a concrete block 8 ft wide and 8 ft. thick that a bulldozer had a difficult time burying.

Across from him on Hwy 2318, as far as I know, was the site of the Suez grocery store. To the side of his place across the side dirt road still stands the Suez church and a rock house that I believe was the parsonage plus some old outbuildings which include a matching rock structure that the water tank was mounted on. The church is now an open barn. On the same property was the site of the Suez school, which there is no trace of. The Suez school later was merged into the Beattie school. There are still old timers around that attended Suez school. I don't know who owns that piece of land where the school and church was but it's leased to out of town deer hunters who occasionally visit." - Shane Hall, July 25, 2014
