History
on a Pinhead
The community was
named after the nearby creek of the same name. Situated in the Sam
Houston National Forest, it is thought to have developed in the
last quarter of the 19th Century.
While its early history has been largely forgotten, it maintained
its own store well into the 20th century. A volunteer fire department
remains for the scattered residences. |

PUMPKIN, TEXAS
by d.knape
No one goes to Pumpkin
too far off the beaten track,
it don't even have a pumpkin
can you imagine that,
but take the road to Pumpkin anyway
the scenery's exquisite,
keep your eye peeled for the road sign
if not you just might miss it.
