History in
a Pecan Shell
From
a small school started in the late 1880s, a community developed. History
is scare from the first four decades, but when oil was discovered
in the 1930s, White Oak was firmly established – despite its proximity
to Kilgore.
Unlike many Texas towns – White Oak’s
population increased after WWII.
The early 1960s showed 1,250 residents which ballooned to over 5,000
for the 1990 census.
It is now considered an extention of Longview
with a 2010 population of 6,469. |
