of our researchers recently came upon several lists of chili recipes.
The names alone provide entertainment value - even before preparation
is attempted. Since the lists were long and readers are sometimes
impatient, we culled redundant recipes and categorized those that
remained under ten headings.
Readers intrigued by the names can find the various recipes through
a Google search. Texas Escapes does not endorse any chili and advises
readers who eat chili to eat responsibly. TE takes no responsibility
for anything readers put in their mouths.

Big Chili Cook-Off in Terlingua
Terlingua became a household word due to a war of words between Dallas
Morning News Columnist/ Chili gourmet Francis X. Tolbert and
a columnist for Holiday magazine. The barbed words led to a
challenge which lead to the first big chili cook-off back in the early
60s. The Holiday critic who had written such scathing articles about
chili in, ended up retiring in Terlingua a few years after his visit
