A dam across the Brazos River at De Cordova Bend SE of Granbury was completed in 1969, forming Lake Granbury.

Lake Granbury is almost a literal stone's throw from the courthouse in Granbury. Contains 8,700 acres of water impounded from the Brazos River with 103 miles of shoreline.
