GHOST STORY

by David Knape
It is Halloween
and it is starting out
cold and clear
31 degrees this morning
I covered all the plants
with blankets and sheets
last evening
and now they look like ghosts
on the patio
and when the wind blows
they move
in fits and starts
as the wind blusters through
how appropriate for this Halloween
when ghosts and goblins
come out
tonight they may fly away
howl at the moon
their shadows across the sky
sheets in the wind
spooks in the night.
