STORING THOUGHTS

by David Knape

I thought at first
it was just a passing thought
but then the thought
stuck around and became permanent
a thought like that is well worth keeping
I keep it in the back of my mind
along with a lot of other miscellaneous stuff
in fact there is so much stuff back there
it gets confusing at times
and it is hard to find the exact thought I want
I wish I had another place to store my thoughts
perhaps a storage unit would work
but until I get that figured out
I'm getting rid of this thought
by giving it to you
now I have more space
but I am sure it won't be long
until I fill that space back up again
thoughts seem to accumulate
I wish I had smaller thoughts
so I could keep more of them
this is just a thought that got loose
and became random
Most of my thoughts are fleeting
I find these are the best to have
they take up less space
and are not too heavy.
