A timeline of significant events (mostly population figures) in Bruni's history:
1860: The site was settled - no record available on what the settlement was called at first
1877: Antonio Bruni, the town's namesake arrived
1881: Bruni became a station on the Texas-Mexican Railway
1900: The Bruni post office was granted
1914: The community had a population of sixty with a general store----
1939: the discovery of oil increased the population to 800
1943: The population declined to 350
1964: The population by this time had declined to 275
1972: The population was 214 and stayed at that number until 1984
