History in a Pecan Shell

Atlee was founded sometime in the 1880s as a stop on the International-Great Northern Railroad shortly after it built through La Salle County. It never developed into much more than a small cluster of houses around the IGN depot, but it did manage to appear on maps as late as 1980.
