Not much
is known about this Afro-American community that was eventually absorbed by Houston.
Known to have been alongside the rails of the Katy railroad, the area now falls
inside the city limits of Hedwig Village (pop 2,334).
Hedwig Village is
between Bingle and Gessner just south of I-10 (aka the Katy Freeway).
The
Handbook of Texas uses the Hedwig Village Gazette as their source, while we use
the Handbook as ours. |
