History in a Pecan Shell

AKA Driskill, Dutch Waterhole, or Hume, the town was named after the first name of the son of a local storekeeper. The town was established in 1892 and seven years later a post office opened (for just 3 years). Mail was later routed through Del Valle.

Elroy had it’s own (segregated) schools which were eventually consolidated in 1961.

Elroy’s population grew from twenty-five in 1933 to the present (estimate) of 125.
