History in a Pecan Shell

According to the Handbook of Texas, Mozo may be a corruption of surname Mazoch, proprietors of a gin in the community around 1909.

The railroad had built loading docks for the gin and several businesses existed at one time or another, but the town never developed beyond the gin and related structures. No population figures were given. Today Mozo exists as “a dispersed community” of small farms.

There is no cemetery, although the name does appear on detailed county maps.
