COLUMBUS HANGING TREE
Columbus, Texas

Hanging Tree

Columbus’ former hanging tree – is just across the brown bridge where the Highway 71 feeder meets FM 109 going north to Frelsburg.

Don’t look for a historic marker for this one. Although there is a historic photo of two men hanging from the tree, it is the wish of many to have that sad incident forgotten. There is a rose granite county “tablet” marker under the tree’s spread, but it has nothing to do with the tree’s untoward use.
