Post
Office Mural
"View of Alpine"
by Moya del Pino 1940
showing text-driven cows
TE photo
The painting was evidently done prior to Alpine getting a library,
or else reading was once regarded as an activity that needed to be
done away from town. |

The post office
moved to a new location in September of 2000. County offices now
occupy the former building. The mural has remained in place, although
viewing is not as easy as it once was.

The
hand painted sign on the Crystal Bar caught our attention for it's
matter-of-fact artistry. The artist was Style Read. Looking to the
right of the Crystal Bar's entrance will give the viewer a look at
exactly the same type of landscape that is in the painting.
