History on a Pinhead

Amherst had a post office in operation from 1904-05 and a school that appeared on maps in 1936. Amherst students were attending classes in Powderly (10 miles NW) in the 1960s and it still appears on detailed TxDoT Lamar county maps. No cemeteries are in the immediate vicinity and little additional information is available - unless we hear from someone.
