History in a Pecan Shell

Established in the early 1880s, the name comes from a mott of trees that had a blusish tint at certain times of day. The town’s grew around a general store and in 1895 the community acquired its own post office.

The population reached a high-water mark of 240 people in the mid 1920s but entered into a decline after WWII. The figure of 125 was first used in the mid 1950s and was submitted for the 2000 census.
