    History on a Pinhead

The town was named for the owner (G.B. Tenery) of the property on which an oil well came in (1931). The population spiked briefly to 200, but these were mostly oil workers. Other than the name, there’s no evidence that any infrastructure was built for a lasting town, nor was there a post office for Teneryville. A few families had remained in the area in the 1960s but by the 1990s, Teneryville had become part of greater Longview.

Nearby was the former community of "Little Beaumont" - so named because of the Yount-Lee Oil Company (from Beaumont) interests there.

Photographer's Note: “Although the “town” appears on some maps and there is a highway sign, there is now no evidence of this having once been a separate community. There are only busy highways, streets and many houses and subdivisions.” - Gerald Massey
