History in a Pecan Shell

Valera was once a part of the George P. Cleveland Ranch.

Valera was at its zenith just after World War II. At one time there were 17 businesses in Valera.

Luckily for the current Coleman County visitor, Valera still has a restaurant open on the SW corner of the Intersection.

When we came back in August to visit the ghosts towns we missed in May we revisited Valera in order to check out Big O's BBQ. Big O's might be the best BBQ I have ever had. -
