History
on a Pinhead
The town moved to Oriana (which became
a ghost town in later years) around 1909 when the community was bypassed
by the Stamford and Northwestern Railroad. It had begun some twenty
years before and at its high point - had two stores and a cotton gin.
The nearby Antioch Baptist Church (est. 1895) managed to hold on until
1918. The community school (est 1897) served quadruple duty as a church,
lodge and community center. |
