Thomas H. Dean, in an abandoned two-room picket house adjoined to a four-bedroom tent bought from Montgomery Ward; mail arrived from Amarillo once a week, in a two-wheeled mule cfart

Its location on a ranch owned by the first county judge - Jerry Rowland Dean, Father of the first postmaster
