Sutton County Courthouse

This building site of all land transactions incident to development of county. Water well, a few feet from building, was first water here, where sheepmen watered their flocks, hence locating here as a home. Father of founder of the townsite killed father of one of West Texas' most prominent families on site of Courthouse over argument concerning watering sheep.

"The restored district courtroom.
Although the exterior of this courthouse had been restored and rededicated on June 11, 2002, the interior was still unfinished during my initial visit in March of 2005. In June of 2006, the interior was just about finished. The final touches were being added to the interior of the courtroom when I took this picture."
