History in a Pecan Shell

The community was granted a post office in 1908 although there’s no population estimate from the period. In 1933 there were 30 residents counted but the post office was discontinued at the end of the decade.

After WWII, the community still had an estimated 30 residents, as well as a functioning school and one business. After the school was merged with schools in Hemphill in the 1950s, it lost part of its identity. In the 1960s the construction of Toledo Bend Reservoir made the town collateral damage and it was flooded for the common good. Toledo Bend Reservoir became operational in 1968.
