    Photographer's Note:

    Subject: Lubbock County Marker

It took me a long time, like a couple of years, to finally located this marker. I made several trips and made many phone calls before I was able to speak with a woman who had the correct location information. The marker was originally southeast of Lubbock on a main highway. It must have been in the way of new construction so it was moved lock, stock and concrete base to the Shallowater Museum northwest of Lubbock.

The museum was closed when I arrived so I backed my pickup close to the chain link fence so I could hold the camera out far enough to get some good shots. Even then I had to go back for a re-take.

I don't know how long the marker has been in storage or how long it will remain there. - Barclay Gibson
