History
in a Pecan ShellOriginally
known by the name of Wayland, Texas, the exact date of settlement is not
known. The community had a respectable population of 200 in 1880 served by a flour
mill, two stores and a cotton gin.
After reaching a peak in 1900, the
town started into a decline and although it has managed to keep an estimated population
of 100, little of the town remains except for a church, cemetery and a community
center. |
